In 2016, the City of Hays pumped 636,873,796 gallons of water. In 1970, the City pumped 754,342,160 gallons of water. There are not too many communities that can say they are using a comparative amount of water that they used over 30 years ago. This shows the City and the citizens are very wise water users.

In July of 2016, the Water Plant pumped 65,311,719 gallons of water. July of 2016 showed 4.59 inches of rainfall. For the month of July 2015, the Water Plant showed 4.26 inches of rainfall.

The largest amount of water that was pumped in 2016 from the well field was on June 15, 2016. We pumped 2,464,819 gallons of water in a 24-hour period.

The City of Hays Water Plant is registered with the National Weather Service. In 2002, the Water Plant received a 50-year Award for Service.
