Meetings: Last Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. (meeting date in May and December to be determined at later date), Housing Authority Community Room, 1709 Sunset Trail.
The Hays Housing Authority Board works with the Executive Director to make revisions to policies related to low-income housing. They make decisions on contracts, vouchers, minimum/maximum rent, and guidelines for occupants. They also pass the Housing Authority budget and provide information within the community in regard to low-income housing. The Chairman of the Board is responsible for finances including signing checks for salaries, repairs, utilities, etc.
The Housing Authority Board consists of 5 voting members appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of the City Commission, for terms of 4 years each.
