FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SUBJECT: Hays PD to Conduct Traffic Enforcement campaign near the High Schools
As part of the S.A.F.E. (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) Program, the Hays Police Department will join other law enforcement agencies across the state with increased enforcement near high schools to raise awareness on roadway safety. This program takes place February 25th through March 8th.
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the United States. In 2018, nearly half of all Kansas teens who died in traffic crashes were not wearing a seatbelt.
Officers will be very proactive and will issue citations to any individual who refuses to obey the traffic laws, whether it is for speeding, texting, or failing to buckle up. Please slow down, put the phone away or turn it off, and always buckle up.
Working together, we can help make our community safer for our children.
